In the early years of the 21st century, a gap in the digital learning landscape caught the attention of our founder, Christopher Goodsell. He saw an opportunity to enhance training effectiveness by combining visual communication and user experience (UX) design principles with eLearning. They had an initial VR prototype that was just missing the mark. They reached out to one of the leading EdTech firms in the market who had just launched a revolutionary tool, the Cenario VR, a unique Virtual Reality Development Application. Being a trusted partner of the EdTech firm, our experience and reputation preceded us, leading them to introduce us to Chick-Fil-A.
In our first meeting with Chick-Fil-A, they asked us a simple question: ‘Do you understand what we want?’ With confidence and insight, we replied, ‘Yes, you want to express your customer-care ethos in just 30 seconds through VR.’ The project was ours.
Instead of embarking on the lengthy and expensive process of coding an entirely virtual world, we used technology from the real estate industry, a Matterport camera. This device captures photographically accurate 360-degree virtual reality scenes in mere seconds. With the Matterport, we captured a real Chick-Fil-A restaurant in just over an hour, a process that could have otherwise taken months.
Building upon this base, we designed animated characters and a ‘choose your own adventure’ scenario. This allowed new employees to navigate through the virtual restaurant and to make decisions regarding task completions. Every choice led to different outcomes, mimicking a real-world scenario. This approach not only reinforced learning through immediate feedback but also offered a safe space for trial and error, guiding learners towards successful decisions.
The Chick-Fil-A project underlined our commitment to seamlessly blending innovative technology with intelligent solutions, making superior education both accessible and affordable. We have since leveraged this approach for various clients, continually redefining what smart, effective learning can be.
